Lansdowne VA – Care Net’s president and CEO Roland Warren presented the 2020 Guy Condon Presidential Award to Miami Valley Women’s Center of Dayton, Ohio on September 11, 2020. Miami Valley Women’s Center co-founder and Board Member Jo Anne Rohrer accepted the award via livestream at the Care Net National Conference in Orlando, FLh.
The Guy Condon Presidential Award is awarded annually to one Care Net affiliated pregnancy center that demonstrates a holistic approach to client care, including a focus on healthy marriage, fatherhood, and motherhood, spiritual health, and engaging local churches that provide ongoing “life support” to women and couples.
“During this period of Covid, this center really stepped up in terms of reaching clients,” Roland said, speaking to the center’s innovation in turning to virtual consultations for meeting with clients – and even leading clients to Christ through these meetings.
“Whatever we have done in the past 38 years and whatever we’ve done now, it’s all to God’s glory,” Jo said, “I want everybody to remember that – apart from Jesus we can do nothing. We are his hands and we are his feet and he just carries us along. I just want to encourage all of you there”¦.be steadfast, be unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord; because your work is not in vain in the Lord.”
The Guy Condon Presidential Award was first presented in 2013. It is named after Guy M. Condon, who was the president of Care Net when he passed away following a car accident on November 11, 2000 after speaking at a fundraising dinner for Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center in Washington, D.C. The award commemorates Condon’s commitment to the holistic approach to pregnancy center ministry embodied by each year’s winner.
