Congressman Bob Good (R-Va.) and Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) recently introduced resolutions to designate the week of November 11 as National Pregnancy Center Week. Although no further action has been taken in either the Senate or the House of Representatives, with Thanksgiving just a few weeks away, now is still a good time to show appreciation for the over 1,200 Care Net pregnancy centers across the United States.
“Pregnancy centers provide mothers a safe place to turn to as they look for help, hope, and healing during challenging times,” said Good, who introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives. “These centers and the individuals who work and volunteer at them deserve to be supported and recognized for the vital role they play in helping mothers and their families. I’m proud to stand with leaders like Senator Mike Lee who are working to protect innocent life.”
Lee and Good also introduced a similar resolution two years ago, following the turmoil that ensued in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned.
“In light of recent attacks on pregnancy centers across the country, this timely resolution recognizes the unsung heroes dedicated to providing critical services to women across the country,” said Lee in 2022. “These centers go above and beyond the call of duty, providing services such as free pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, counseling, and education. I’m humbled by their efforts and honored to support their life-affirming work.”
The contributions made by pregnancy centers in their communities cannot be overstated. According to Hope For A New Generation, a study conducted by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, Care Net, and other pro-life organizations, pregnancy resource centers in the United States served families with material goods and services valued at $367 million in 2022.
“Pregnancy centers have been the front line of the front lines in the fight against abortion for decades,” said Roland C. Warren, President and CEO, Care Net. “Their dedication to protecting and defending unborn lives and building families should be celebrated year round. They are America’s most unsung heroes. Let’s take a moment to thank them, pray for them, and support them in any way we can.”
