One pound, eight ounces.
That is all Micah* weighed when he was born at only 23 weeks. But don’t let his size fool you . . . Micah is a real heavyweight! One pound, eight ounces.
A future full of hope and the heart of a warrior came wrapped in a 1 lb., 8 oz. package that day.
Apparently, no one told Micah it wasn’t time to see the world. In fact, no one told Micah he was never supposed to arrive at all.
When his mother Angel* found out she was pregnant, she didn’t want to tell her parents. She didn’t want anyone to know who the father was. She just wanted it all, including Micah, to go away.
Micah needed a fighting chance to live.
He got that chance when Angel called our Pregnancy Decision Line (PDL) seeking information about abortion.
When she learned about the risks of abortion from our pregnancy decision coach, Angel wasn’t so sure she should go through with it. The PDL coach offered her the contact information for the nearest pregnancy center.
She went in for an ultrasound and immediately fell in love with her baby!
The young mother chose to carry Micah full term . . . but Micah had other ideas. He arrived early and, once again, found his life in danger.
“The nurses and doctors said Micah was the smallest baby they had ever seen, and that he only had a 10 percent chance of survival,” Angel explains.
That is a 10 percent better chance of survival than more than one million aborted every year in the United States. And a chance was all Micah needed!
Every day women and men facing unplanned pregnancies call or email our PDL, or visit one of our 1,180 Care Net pregnancy centers across the US and in Canada.
It is only through your giving and prayers that Care Net can be there for abortion determined parents and their unborn children like Micah.
