“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” — Proverbs 31:28
When we read Proverbs 31, it is easy to focus on the accomplishments of the virtuous woman. Yet Proverbs 31:28 reveals something even deeper than her work—it reveals her legacy. The greatest evidence of a life lived faithfully is not found in wealth, influence, or recognition, but in the lives transformed because of her love and obedience. Her children rise up and call her blessed because they have experienced the fruit of a mother who trusted God.
Few modern stories illustrate that truth more vividly than the testimony of Pam Tebow.
In 1985, while serving as missionaries in the Philippines, Pam Tebow became pregnant under life-threatening circumstances. She had contracted amoebic dysentery, lacked adequate medical care, and faced serious complications. Concerned for her health, doctors urged her to abort her unborn son. Humanly speaking, the situation appeared hopeless.
Yet Pam and her husband chose to trust God rather than surrender to fear. Believing that every child is created by God and that His purposes can be trusted even when the future cannot be seen, they chose life.
On August 14, 1987, Timothy Tebow was born. Doctors described his survival as miraculous.
Many know Tim Tebow because of his athletic accomplishments—a Heisman Trophy winner, two-time national champion, NFL quarterback, and College Football Hall of Fame inductee. But perhaps his greatest influence has come off the field.
Through the Tim Tebow Foundation, he has spent years serving children with special needs, rescuing victims of human trafficking, providing medical care, supporting orphan care, and boldly advocating for the sanctity of every human life. Speaking at the 2021 March for Life, Tebow reflected on his mother’s decision:
“I’m so grateful that my mom gave me a chance at life… Every single life matters to God.”
His story reminds us that one courageous decision can echo through generations.
But Proverbs 31:28 reminds us of an even greater truth. Pam Tebow is not blessed simply because her son became famous. She is blessed because she faithfully trusted God when obedience was costly.
Most mothers will never raise a Heisman Trophy winner or a nationally recognized speaker. Most fathers will never watch their child become a household name. Yet every act of faithful parenting matters because every child bears the image of God and has eternal value.

That means walking alongside mothers, fathers, and children long after the pregnancy test, helping them discover that God has a purpose for every life He creates.
Proverbs 31:28 also challenges all of us to consider the kind of legacy we are building. Children rise up and call their parents blessed not because life was easy, but because they witnessed faithfulness. They remember prayers offered in difficult moments, sacrifices made out of love, and parents who trusted God’s promises when circumstances seemed uncertain.
Pam Tebow could not have known what God would do through her son. She simply knew that God is faithful.
Neither can we predict what God may accomplish through the lives He entrusts to us. The child whose future seems uncertain today may one day become a faithful parent, a compassionate neighbor, a missionary, a teacher, a pastor, or someone whose quiet obedience changes generations. Fame is never the goal. Faithfulness is.
Every child deserves the opportunity to discover God’s purpose for his or her life.
Today, may Proverbs 31:28 remind us that the greatest legacy is not measured by worldly success but by lives shaped through courageous faith. When we choose obedience, trust God in difficult circumstances, and defend the dignity of every human life, we participate in His greater story of redemption.
Father, thank You for women like Pam Tebow whose faith inspires us to trust You when the path is difficult. Help us to value every life You create and to courageously support mothers, fathers, and families facing unexpected pregnancies. May our lives leave a legacy of faithfulness that points others to Jesus, the Author of abundant life. Amen.
