An unexpected pregnancy can make it feel as though life has suddenly out of control. Fear begins asking questions before hope has a chance to answer them. What will people think? How will I provide? What about my future? Am I ready for this?
Those questions are real, and they deserve compassionate answers. But Psalm 139 reminds us that before anyone else knew our story—even before we took our first breath—God already did. Every human life is known by Him, loved by Him, and created with purpose. That truth changes everything.
Every Child Is Known Before Birth
Psalm 139 is one of Scripture’s clearest revealing of God’s involvement in human life. David celebrates that God not only created him in the womb, but also saw him before he was fully formed. Every day of his life had already been known by the Creator. This passage reminds us that unborn children are not accidents, interruptions, or problems to solve. They are people intentionally created by God, with inherent dignity, worth, and a future known only to Him. That truth also speaks hope to those facing uncertainty. While they may not know what tomorrow holds, God does. The Author of life is never surprised by the circumstances surrounding a pregnancy.
One Conversation Can Change Everything
Hailey never imagined she would become pregnant. After being told by doctors that she likely could not conceive, discovering she was expecting felt like an unexpected miracle. They provide mentoring, parenting education, material assistance, fatherhood programs, church connections, post-abortion recovery, and ongoing discipleship that helps families flourish long after a pregnancy decision has been made.
Every phone call answered with compassion, every volunteer who listens without judgment, every father encouraged to step forward, and every church willing to walk alongside a family reflects the heart of Christ. God is still writing stories of redemption every day. Who in your life may be facing an unexpected pregnancy or a difficult life decision? Father, thank You that every life is known and loved by You before birth. Thank You that You are never surprised by the circumstances we face. We pray for women and men facing unexpected pregnancies today. Quiet the voices of fear and confusion, and lead them to people who will speak truth with compassion. Strengthen fathers to embrace their God-given calling, and continue using pregnancy centers and local churches to reflect Your heart for abundant life.
