Making his way to the bus stop, Marco* kept thinking back to his time in prison. All he’d wanted was to make his life better, and he was willing to do whatever it took. While serving his sentence, he realized almost everyone in jail was just trying to save themselves from their own problems. Even the baddest of the bad.
But some of the inmates were different. Some of the men befriended him, and he discovered that they had come to know the Lord in prison. Jesus had changed them from the inside out. As he drew close to the end of his sentence, Marco found he kept thinking about how different those Christian inmates were.
Life outside of prison was difficult, but he was thankful to be home. But then things got harder. Coming home one afternoon, one look at his girlfriend, Mercedes*, said it all: she was pregnant.
Marco started sweating.
How could he provide for the three of them when finding and keeping a job had been hard enough as an ex-con? He scrambled his brains trying to think of a way to fix it, but, in the end, abortion seemed like the only option.
Typing the words ‘info about abortion’ into the online search engine left him feeling like the bad guy.
Near the top of the search engine””thanks to your generous support of our online outreach””Marco came across Pregnancy Decision Line. The ad said it was a hotline offering a private place to talk about abortion.
After sharing his story, the coach that Marco spoke to affirmed that Jesus had the power to change his life by paying his debt in full, and making him new from the inside out””just like they talked about back in prison. Marco knew he couldn’t be the hero of his story””his time in jail was proof enough.
Marco knew what he needed to do.
Over the phone, Marco gave his life to Christ. When it was over, he didn’t know how things were gonna turn out, but now he knew God was on his side.
Better still, he knew he had the support of a pregnancy center and a church that would help them choose life for their baby.
The situations that drive men and women to consider abortion always begin the same: fear. Fear of being judged, fear of change, and fear of the unknown. But thanks to you, they have the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And not only that, they have a place to turn””pregnancy centers who can help with material and spiritual needs and churches who partner with us through the Making Life Disciples course to help with the long-term discipleship and support these parents need.
Thank you so much for making a difference”¦ now and for eternity!
