God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1
At just 14 years old, Taylor found herself in a place no young girl is prepared for. Alongside her mother, Sheila, a single mom of three, she walked into a Care Net pregnancy center for a test that would change everything.
When the results came back positive, fear set in quickly. Like so many facing an unexpected pregnancy, the weight of the moment brought confusion, pressure, and uncertainty. Abortion felt like a real consideration.
“I was very lost,” Taylor later shared. “I didn’t really know where to go.”
That’s the reality behind many pregnancy decisions. It’s not just a medical moment. It’s a crisis of direction, identity, and support. When someone feels alone, the options can seem limited and overwhelming.
But Taylor’s story didn’t end there.
When she stepped into the pregnancy center, something shifted. She described it as a haven—a place where the noise and pressure of the outside world quieted, and where she was met not with judgment, but with compassion.
She and her mother began receiving consistent support and coaching. They weren’t rushed. They weren’t left to figure it out alone. They were walked with—step by step.
Over time, they made the decision to choose life.
But that decision was not the finish line. It was the beginning of something deeper.
Throughout her pregnancy, Taylor met regularly with a mentor who invested in her not just as a client, but as a person. In one of those conversations, something even more significant happened—Taylor gave her life to Christ.
Her story continued to unfold. She stayed engaged, kept showing up, and ultimately graduated high school early. What began as a moment of crisis became a pathway toward stability, purpose, and hope.
This is the heart of what Care Net calls Pro Abundant Life.
Saving a baby matters deeply. But the vision goes further. It’s about transformed lives, restored families, and a relationship with Jesus that changes everything.
The staff at this pregnancy center had the privilege of walking closely with Taylor and Sheila for over two years. Their story is one example of what is happening every day across Care Net’s network of more than 1,200 pregnancy centers.
Since 2008, this network has seen over one million babies saved from abortion and more than 2.2 million parents hear the gospel.
Behind every number is a name. A story. A life with the potential for something more.
The staff and volunteers in these centers are often unseen by the broader culture, but their work is anything but small. They meet people in moments of fear and uncertainty, offering more than services. They offer presence. Relationship. Hope.
They are living out Psalm 46:1 in real time.
God is a refuge. And often, He makes that refuge tangible through His people.
In a culture that often overlooks or misunderstands this work, these men and women continue faithfully on the front lines—serving women, engaging men, strengthening families, and sharing the gospel.
They need our prayers. They need our support. And they need to be reminded that what they are doing matters more than most will ever know.
Because when someone like Taylor walks through their doors, she’s not just looking for options.
She’s looking for somewhere to turn.
And by God’s grace, she finds it.
Lord, I thank You that You were a refuge for Taylor. May you continue to bless pregnancy centers with the needed resources to minister to women faced with pregnancy decisions. Amen.
