How you’re saving MORE lives like Albertina’s baby!
When Albertina* stepped aboard our ICU Mobile medical unit, she already knew she was pregnant. She’d had a positive pregnancy test and was just there to get an ultrasound. Convinced that abortion was the best option for her, she told the coaches and medical technicians staffing the unit that she was just barely scraping by financially. She was not active in church. She had zero family support. Her own mother and grandmother even seemed to be pushing her to get an abortion. She felt completely alone.
When the ultrasound revealed that she was only seven weeks pregnant, Albertina began to cry. She had more time to decide.
Taking note of the clear distress and panic in Albertina’s voice, the mobile medical team sat with her and helped her consider the emotional and spiritual consequences of abortion. They gave her information about a local maternity home, about adoption agencies, and other realistic alternatives so Albertina knew she could bring her baby into the world and possibly bless another family’s life.
She left undecided but allowed the ICU Mobile team to pray with her. She also agreed to come back for a second ultrasound, but this time she would try to bring the baby’s father.
Engaging Fathers for Life
Our story revealed that both women and men who participated in abortion believe that an unborn baby’s father is the most influential voice in a pregnant mom’s decision either to get an abortion or choose life. So for anyone considering abortion, our team offers another free ultrasound so the dad can have a chance to see and hear his child for the first time. We also train teams to support men in stepping up as fathers.
A Changed Heart and a New Commitment
When they came back for her second ultrasound, Albertina excitedly shared that she had changed her mind and chosen LIFE for her baby! Moved by prayers and the genuine compassion of our team, she also joined the parenting classes at a local affiliated pregnancy center. She even volunteered to serve as a “scan model” and help train a newly hired nurse to do ultrasounds!
We rejoice that God worked through you to save this baby and his/her parents from the devastation of abortion. We also LOVE that Albertina’s now “paying it forward” by helping nurses learn to provide ultrasounds so they will be better equipped to save more babies in the future.
Thank you for making stories like this possible and supporting Albertina and her baby’s father in their time of need as they now step together as a family.
