Jarid Mayo

Senior Manager of FATHERHOOD & FAMILY Ministry

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I love to help fatherhood programs make the ‘click’ for serving men to the best of their abilities. I find that most centers have a lot of the tools available, they just need to make some connections and have someone walk through things from the outside looking in.

What is your favorite Bible verse/book/chapter/section? Why?

Matthew 6:25
Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
Is there any more truth in those verses? Don’t worry. It literally won’t do anything for you. Not. A. Thing.

Why are you pro-life?

Even before I became a Chrisitan, I was pro-life. It’s something that even as a non-believer didn’t make sense to me. How can you willingly take away life? Let alone innocent life? It didn’t make sense to me then and doesn’t make sense to me now.

What is something people don’t know about you?

I was a background character in The Avengers. They put me in skinny jeans and a cap; I’m pretty unrecognizable. The following year, my wife and I were both cast as background extras in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I was a stand in for Christopher Meloni and Sam Trammell in a John Travolta movie that went straight to video. I played a Savior in the Season 8 finale of The Walking Dead. I’ve tried out for Survivor twice. I say try all the things!

What are your hobbies?

Absolutely, positively obsessed with X-Men and Marvel Comics. I love the movies, the TV shows, and have a collection that’s so large it has its own room – my library. I love sitting on the couch with pizza and a movie with my beautiful wife Jennifer. If I’m not home, I’m probably at the gym. I came out of the womb singing and have been since; I love music (especially Tina Turner).
