David Mortimer
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF MINISTRY PARTNERSHIPS
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is meeting other people that are also passionate about Care Net’s mission and supporting more than 1,200 pregnancy center affiliates. I was privileged to have first seen this passion when I was in high school, in 1981, when my parents helped launch APPLE, a Care Net pregnancy center in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. APPLE (Aiding Problem Pregnancies with Love and Encouragement) has now been a Pro-Abundant Life community presence for 40+ years.
What is your favorite Bible verse/book/ chapter/section? Why?
2 Corinthians 1:3-4, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” I absolutely love to care for others and bring them comfort. Whether it’s a joke or a coffee, I love to see people smile and leave them better than I found them!
Where are you from? Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Wisconsin. I spent 20 years in Illinois when I went to Wheaton College, then worked in an Uptown, Chicago, ministry, met my wife, then seminary and pastoring. We moved back to Wisconsin to raise our girls.
What are your hobbies?
I love learning how to golf! You meet so many people at golf outings!
What is something people don’t know about you?
My wife, Nanci, first met me in a homeless shelter. (We both worked there)
