This is a great chance to appeal to givers who may not be motivated by pro-life messaging but who do want to help women and children in their community, especially around the holidays.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving held annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Using social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about change in their communities, it provides a platform for centers like yours to encourage the donation of time, resources, and talents. Last year alone, over 700,000 people participated in #GivingTuesday.
It’s also a great chance to appeal to givers who may not be motivated by pro-life messaging but who do want to help women and children in their community, especially around the holidays.

Tip: Get creative
Does your center need a fresh coat of paint or remodel? Encourage supporters to donate paint, labor, or specific items for your remodel.
Do you need resources? Share examples of how your center uses their donation – like the amounts needed to:
- purchase a pack of BYD Magazines,
- sponsor keyword advertising so more women can find out about your center next month
- obtain a year’s subscription to the BYD: Live tablet app,
- buy a single tablet,
- sponsor the cost of a sonogram, or
- purchase a new car seat.
Remember, you don’t want these to be designated gifts, so be sure to keep the language you use general, such as: “Your donation of just $X on #GivingTuesday shares hope with parents in our community, like Olivia who received a car seat to take her baby home from the hospital.
Use pictures whenever you can!
4. Get everyone on board
Encourage staff, board members, volunteers, and supporters to Like, Share, and Retweet your #GivingTuesday posts.
Want to take it up a notch? Ask a major donor to sponsor your campaign by donating $1 for every time your #GivingTuesday posts are liked and $5 for every share. Let your supporters know about the challenge so they can help you bring in the cash.
