The coach on the other end of the Pregnancy Decision Line could hear the weariness and desperation in the young woman’s voice.
Abortion wasn’t an option when Diane became pregnant, but now she just wanted relief from the overwhelming stress and was considering ending her pregnancy despite being in the second trimester.
During the call with the coach, however, Diane shared that if she could just find a place to go for support, she would possibly reconsider. And because Care Net has a wide network of 1,200 pregnancy centers that are beacons of light in their communities, the coach was able to immediately connect her with a center that could provide the help and care that she so dearly needed. The coach prayed and asked others in Care Net’s community to do the same, that Diane would choose life for her baby and find abundant life in Christ.
A few weeks later, a follow-up call revealed great news. Diane sounded like a completely different person, the coach said. The pregnant mom had taken steps toward a better life and now spoke with hope about her plans to receive and welcome her baby.
Diane’s story is just one of many recent testimonies of transformation from Care Net’s Pregnancy Decision Line (PDL), a national hotline that provides compassionate, confidential, and free pregnancy decision coaching and medical support.
Each year, Care Net connects approximately 4,000 callers (95% begin the call determined to abort) with the goal of moving them from a desire to abort to a posture of life, connecting them with a local pregnancy center, and sharing the good news of the Gospel as the Lord opens the door. The PDL is a lifeline for men and women facing unexpected pregnancies—callers who may be drowning in desperation, frozen with the fear of what the future holds, or blindsided by abandonment.
“Our Pregnancy Decision Line is absolutely amazing,” said Roland Warren, Care Net’s CEO and President. “I’m always blown away when I hear about the calls that we take and the way our pregnancy decision line coaches handle those calls. Our coaches, many of whom are nurses, are there to provide emotional and spiritual support around some of the questions that people have: What’s involved in an abortion? What are my options? What are the different community resources I can access to help me make this decision?”
Here is another recent PDL testimony:
Emily scheduled an abortion due to a broken relationship with the father of the baby and the stress that it caused. On a PDL call, she told the coach that she had a church background, but did not have a relationship with God. The coach shared with Emily about God’s great love for her and how he wanted to know her personally. After the call, the coach prayed that Emily would not only choose life, that she and the baby’s father would have a relationship with Jesus.
On a follow-up call, the coach learned that Emily chose life for her baby! She thanked the coach for praying and sensed that God was intervening in her life. Emily also shared that she and baby’s father had started attending a church. She was hopeful that their relationship was beginning to heal.
“God is good! And we praise Him for what He is doing,” said the coach.
Care Net is thankful that the Lord, through his mercy and grace, is using our hotline to cancel abortion appointments, save the lives of babies, and draw people unto Himself to experience abundant life.
One coach described the PDL in this manner: “We are meeting people right in the middle of their decision-making process. We are reaching so many people considering abortion because everybody is looking for information online. We are right there at that critical moment of decision. Whoever they speak with on the phone will have a huge impact.”
