Hope in Ohio
The Pregnancy Resource Clinic of Clark County has served its community for nearly 40 years, offering medical services such as ultrasounds, pregnancy education, parenting support, and connections to local churches. Located in a community where many clients face transportation challenges, housing instability, and language barriers, the clinic strives to meet people where they are. Nearly 30 percent of their patients are non-English speaking, and the clinic now utilizes Spanish and Haitian interpreters to better serve families walking through its doors.
For Nicole Patch, this work is deeply personal.
Before joining the clinic, Nicole and her husband experienced three miscarriages while trying to start a family. Those losses reshaped how she understood the value of life. While she had always considered herself pro-life, those experiences stirred a deeper calling. After seeing a Sanctity of Human Life Sunday bulletin announcement seeking nurse volunteers, Nicole visited the clinic and quickly felt the Lord’s direction.
She began as a volunteer nurse, eventually serving as ultrasound coordinator for ten years before stepping into the executive director role in 2023. Looking back, Nicole sees how God used painful experiences to prepare her for ministry.
Today, one of the clinic’s most important priorities is engaging fathers. Staff noticed that when couples came to appointments, the men often sat silently in the waiting room with little support. Yet, we know that fathers are the most influential voice in a pregnancy decision. The clinic now ensures that a trained male volunteer or fatherhood coordinator is available to meet with men, listen to their concerns, and encourage them in their role as dads. Many share that they want to be good fathers but lacked strong role models themselves.
God has also opened unexpected doors for the clinic’s growth.
For years, leadership prayed about expanding to Springfield’s north side, where abortion rates were higher but transportation barriers kept many women from traveling across town. When a local Planned Parenthood facility unexpectedly closed, the opportunity appeared almost overnight. After prayer and careful consideration, the clinic acquired the building.
Today, what was once used for abortion is being transformed into a place of life, support, and gospel-centered care. Scripture has been written on the walls, volunteers have prayed over every room, and the space is being prepared to serve families in a whole new way.
Stories like these reflect what Care Net’s network sees every day: when faithful believers step forward to serve, God multiplies their efforts in ways no one could plan.
