You gave Jada the support she needs for her growing family
When Jada* stepped onto the ICU mobile medical unit, she was nervous and unsure. This was her first pregnancy. Like many first-time moms, she felt like much of her world was turned upside down. The father of her baby had come with her to the appointment, but both were filled with uncertainty. Would they be okay? Could they handle this? What were they supposed to do?
The ultrasound revealed that Jada was still very early in her pregnancy—so early, in fact, that only the gestational sac could be seen. It wasn’t the reassurance she had hoped for. The anxiety in the room was real.
But because of you, something else was real, too: the presence of Christ. Jada was met with compassion and calm. The sonographer gently listened, encouraged her to lean into her faith, and prayed with the couple right there in the unit. She handed Jada a Bible—and gave the father a devotional book, too.
Jada’s eyes welled with tears.
“It’s so beautiful,” she said.
A Heartbeat on Wheels — and Two Hearts Opened to Christ
Jada returned several few weeks later for her follow-up appointment. This time, the room filled with joyful relief. There it was: her baby’s heartbeat, strong and clear.
And so was something else: faith taking root.
Jada and her baby’s father had been reading a chapter of Scripture together every night. They had chosen a church to begin attending. And they were already talking about having their child baptized.
