How Sarah Found Courage When She Thought She Was On Her Own

When faced with an unexpected pregnancy, Sarah* and her fiancé, Josh*, needed all the courage they could get.
When Sarah told Josh she was pregnant, he was excited to be a dad. After talking to his parents, however, Josh started pressuring her to get an abortion.
Sarah’s heart shattered. Without Josh by her side, she didn’t think raising a baby was even possible. Deep down, she wanted to have their baby, but she just couldn’t see a way forward without him. It felt insurmountable. Everything was already so expensive! How could she afford to take care of a baby? How could she possibly juggle work with raising her baby?
Overwhelmed, Sarah curled up and cried.

When she felt a little better, Sarah tried to think about how she could make this work. Juanita,* the Care Net hotline coach who answered her call told Sarah about a nearby pregnancy center offering free parenting classes, a Bible study with other expecting moms, and practical support like diapers, baby clothes, and formula. Better still, Sarah’s church was partnering with that same center! Sarah had no idea so much help was available.
After Juanita prayed with her at the end of their call, Sarah decided to talk with Josh and his parents again. In her heart, she really wanted to bring her baby into the world.
More than that, she knew God wanted her to keep this little one. The struggle was worth it.
You Helped Give Sarah Courage to Try Again
Sarah shared her feelings and how important this was to her. When nothing seemed to change, she left the conversation incredibly discouraged.
Nothing could have prepared her for what happened next.
A couple of days later, Josh came to her apartment, and that’s when her fiancé said what she’d been praying for: “Let’s be parents together.” Sarah was over the moon! She was so excited, she decided to call Juanita and share the good news.
