How Angelica Learned She Can Be the Mom Her Baby Needs!

When Angelica* called Care Net’s national hotline, her heart was heavy with fear and confusion.  Right up front, she told the coach who answered her call – Tabitha – that she wanted an abortion.  She’d been through so much pain and loss and felt there was no way she could be a good mom to a newborn infant.

Her own mother had recently passed away and she didn’t have any support or guidance from any other family members.  She had also recently endured a miscarriage – a heartbreaking experience that hurt her physically and emotionally.  Making everything worse was the fact that she had a broken relationship with the baby’s father – a man she didn’t trust to be a supportive partner or parent.

Being a new mom to a baby with all this swirling around her felt overwhelming.  Angelica was audibly scared, lonely, and desperate on the call.

“I don’t think I can do this,” she admitted quietly.  “I don’t think I can bring a baby into all of this.”

God Moved Through You to Show Angelica the Way

As the conversation continued, Tabitha listened patiently, helping to calm Angelica’s nerves and assure her that God loved her and that there are people ready to come alongside her and her baby in their time of need.  That’s when Angelica shared the moment that had shaken her to her core.  During a recent ultrasound, she’d heard her baby’s heartbeat.

“When I heard it,” she said, “everything inside me started fighting.  I felt so torn.”

That heartbeat changed something.  It made her question everything about the life she was carrying and whether an abortion was the right choice.

As Tabitha kept listening, she offered Angelica compassion while reminding her about the value of the tiny life growing inside her.  Together, they talked through the fear, the grief, the uncertainty, and the quiet tug of God at her heart.

They prayed.  And in that sacred moment, the Holy Spirit began to move.  By the end of the call, Angelica sounded different.  Lighter.  Still cautious – but no longer certain that abortion was her path.

“I think . . . I think I want to keep the baby,” she said.  “I’m not completely sure yet, but almost.”

Finding Support, Choosing Life

The next day, Tabitha called Angelica to follow up.  Tabitha wasn’t sure what to expect from Angelica but she prayed and dialed her number.

Angelica answered on the first ring and didn’t hesitate.

“I’m keeping my baby,” she said with joy in her voice.  “I thought about everything we talked about.  Thank you for being there.  I feel so much stronger now.”

Amid grief, fear, and broken relationships, God planted courage.  In the middle of uncertainty, He brought clarity.  And through one Spirit-filled conversation made possible by your compassion and generosity  a scared mom found the strength to choose life.

Thank you for being part of this miracle!
