You helped unite a family and lead them to Christ!
She didn’t know why (yet), but right before her scheduled abortion, Katie* just needed someone to talk to . . . someone who’d listen to everything she had to say. Someone to hopefully give her not just advice, but reassurance that things were not hopeless.
Thanks to God, and to Care Net donors like you who help spread awareness of our national hotline, Katie dialed the number for our Pregnancy Decision Line (PDL). As soon as Charlotte Anne* picked up
the phone at PDL, she could hear the anguish in Katie’s voice as she let her conflicting emotions spill out of her. Katie didn’t want an abortion but was increasingly seeing it as the right thing to do because of her broken relationship with the baby’s father, Neil*. Without Neil in her life, Katie didn’t see how she could raise a baby in a loving, supportive home.
Once Katie was finished, Charlotte Anne let a few moments pass in silence, knowing the potential impact of every word she was about to say. Then, she told Katie that God loved her and her baby. She assured her that God was there with them right at that moment. She also shared the resources available to her through Care Net’s network of affiliated pregnancy centers. She made sure she knew that even church congregations stood ready to help. Katie shared that she grew up in the church, but did not currently have a relationship with God, but she did agree it would be a good idea to pray on this.
When they ended the call, Katie still had her appointment scheduled – the stresses of her problems with Neil just seemed overwhelming.
You Helped Save A Baby’s Life
A few days after their call, Katie sent Charlotte Anne a message: she hadn’t yet made a final decision, but she did not go to the abortion appointment. She knew that Charlotte Anne and the PDL team had been lifting her up in prayer, and she was so grateful. She also said she could feel God moving in her heart and in her situation! Charlotte Anne was thrilled to hear from her and told her they would all continue with her in their prayers.
Several weeks, later, those prayers were answered when they spoke again. Katie said she’d chosen LIFE for her baby! She also said she and Neil had started attending church together – they’d been to several services since Katie’s first call.
Charlotte Anne was blessed by the amazing news, which served as a reminder that dads are too often left out of the abortion discussion. Studies prove that the baby’s father is the most influential person in a mom’s decision to get an abortion.
Katie believed things were hopeless, but through you, God brought healing to Katie and Neil’s relationship. Thank you for being the hands and voice of Jesus for this young family!
