When God gives a vision, He also provides the road to follow. For Sylvia Slifko, that road began with prayer—and an old RV. Two decades later, her vision has become ICU Mobile, a nationwide ministry reaching women where they are with free ultrasounds, gospel-centered care, and the hope of abundant life.
At Care Net’s 2025 National Conference in Charlotte, Sylvia sat down with Roland Warren, Care Net’s President and CEO, to reflect on how God turned one simple idea into a movement. Earlier this year, ICU Mobile officially became a ministry division of Care Net, joining forces to bring life-saving care and spiritual transformation to more women, men, and families than ever before.

#1 A Vision Born from Prayer
Sylvia shared how ICU Mobile began not with a business plan but with prayer. Burdened to reach more abortion-minded women, she asked God for direction—and He gave her a simple yet radical idea: take the ultrasound to them. From that moment, doors opened. A donated RV, unexpected connections, and a small but faithful team came together to launch what would become the first mobile medical ministry of its kind. “It was a God idea,” Sylvia said, one that continues to drive their mission 20 years later.
#2 Meeting Women Where They Are
What started as a single mobile unit now represents a fleet serving communities across the nation. Sylvia described the power of simply being present—parked on a city street, near a college campus, or even in front of an abortion clinic. Women walking by often step inside for an ultrasound, many encountering care and compassion for the first time. As abortion access shifts toward the abortion pill, Sylvia and Roland discussed how this partnership positions Care Net to respond—bringing medical help and gospel hope directly to women who may never set foot in a pregnancy center.
#3 For Those Not Yet Born—and Not Yet Born Again
At the heart of ICU Mobile’s mission is the gospel. Sylvia emphasized that their calling goes beyond saving physical lives to sharing eternal life through Christ. “Our mission,” she explained, “is for those who are not yet born and those who are not yet born again.” Every mobile unit exists to plant gospel seeds—offering the truth of life in Christ to mothers, fathers, and families in crisis. That same vision is what makes ICU Mobile and Care Net such a natural fit, united under John 10:10’s call to not only protect life but to help people experience life more abundantly.

The merger of ICU Mobile and Care Net marks a powerful new chapter in the Pro Abundant Life movement—one where compassion, mobility, and the message of Christ move together.
