Claire Gardner

Senior Direct Response Manager

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Being able to work with other believers, both staff at Care Net and our amazing donors, using the gifts and talents God has given me to bring help, through our Pregnancy Decision Line and affiliated pregnancy centers, and the hope of the Gospel to individuals considering abortion.

What is your favorite Bible verse/book/chapter/section? Why?

My favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not of your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” I am thankful for the gift of God’s grace in my life through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and His resurrection; and that He has provided a way for me to know, love and glorify Him since I could never achieve that on my own.

Where are you from? Where did you grow up?

I am from Virginia, the “birthplace of a nation!” I have lived in Virginia my entire life, except for one summer when I lived in Washington, DC. I was born in Lynchburg, VA and moved to Manassas, VA in Middle School where I lived until I got married. I now reside in Leesburg, VA with my family.

What is your favorite fictional character and why?

It’s hard to pick just one. My childhood favorites were Anne Shirley from “Anne of Green Gables” and Jo March from “Little Women.” My current favorites are Doctor Who from “Doctor Who” and Hercule Poirot from Agatha Christie. While none are overtly Christian characters I think that all great stories reflect in some way the greatest Story, through the protagonists overcoming obstacles so that they can become the people they were intended to be.

What is something people don’t know about you?

Something people don’t know about me is that I was a page on Capitol Hill one summer in high school. I lived in a dorm two blocks from the Capitol and worked in the Republican cloak room answering phones (pre-cell phones) and bringing messages to all the Republican Representatives on the floor of the House of Representatives. I had to memorize the faces of all 435 Representatives.
