Lady Parts Justice League recently hosted Life Is a Living Nightmare: A Telethon to Fix It. The telethon’s purpose was to raise money for the organization’s work to increase abortion rights. The more than 3-hour show was hosted by comedian Sarah Silverman and the creator of The Daily Show, Liz Winstead. It also included a guest appearance by Mark Hamill, the actor made famous for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars.

While an online telethon to raise money for abortion is not surprising, what is surprising are the bizarre presentations that organizers felt embodied their “balanced and reasonable” call for abortion access.

The profanity-drenched telethon included a co-host dancing in a vagina costume, abortion charades, and an attack on “[expletive] abortion laws.” Even more bizarre than an organization fighting the objectification of women by having dancing genitals on stage were the frequent interjections by hosts Silverman and Winstead.

When discussing legislation that would prevent fetal remains from being used in the manufacture of food products, Silverman said, “If anything has ever made me want to eat an aborted fetus, it’s this law.”

Later, Silverman attacked a law that would require fetal remains to be respectfully interred or cremated rather than treated as “medical waste.” “{expletive] funerals for [expletive] aborted fetuses? I would like to speak at those funerals. He lived the way he died. He died the way he lived. The size of a sesame seed with no discerning brain function.”

Near the end of the telethon, Mark Hamill came onstage to auction original artwork and Winstead said, “Mark Hamill is actually going to become an abortion provider.  He’ll give you an abortion with a Jedi wand. It’s going to be awesome.” To which Hamill responded with his famous wild grin and a wave.

If this telethon is any indication of the future of pro-choice apologetics, pro-life victory may be nearer than we think. Gone are any discussions of abortion being an “unfortunate necessity.” Or something that should be “safe, legal, and rare.” Nope. The telethon’s implication is that abortion is an “[expletive] human right!” And if you disagree, you are “illogical, sexist, and part of the patriarchy.” At least, that is what the giant dancing vagina wants us to believe.

And pro-life people are labeled as the intolerant “crazy ones”?

Now, to be fair, I realize that there are irrationalities on both sides of the abortion debate. People have made disrespectful and unloving arguments on behalf of unborn lives as well. The difference here is that, if a couple of fringe pro-life people got together for an online fundraiser, they wouldn’t be able to get Luke Skywalker to make an appearance.

Sarah Silverman and Liz Winstead are not part of some pro-choice “fringe,” they are members of the new abortion elite.

Silverman and her friends are so committed to a culture of death that she can casually joke about eating human flesh without anyone batting an eye. Her bit on “funerals for aborted fetuses” is completely tone deaf to the countless women who mourn and bury the remains of their miscarried children. Are these women stupid for believing that the life growing within them had value?

Of course, what no one on that stage wants to acknowledge is the incontrovertible evidence that unborn children are human lives, with beating hearts, and bodies unique and separate from their mothers. That the most unsafe place in the world for a woman is the womb, as over 100 million women worldwide are missing due to abortion and infanticide.

But those women aren’t the ones that Lady Parts Justice League cares about. Nope. All they really care about is abortion””no matter the cost to women or their unborn children.

It is a fearful thing to disregard the value of life for so long and so deeply that you become calloused to the dignity of another human being, incapable of understanding their pain. If you have ever wondered where someone who denies the value of human life, the existence of truth, or even basic human decency ends up, look no further.  They may just be joking about eating unborn children next to a dancing vagina.

And no, Sarah Silverman, that is never funny. It is just sad.
