If you’ve read this blog before, you have probably heard of Making Life Disciples, Care Net’s curriculum for equipping the Church to offer compassion, hope, help, and discipleship to women and men considering abortion.
At Care Net, we believe that “life decisions need life support,” and the church is God’s instrument to provide life support to women, men, and families to empower them to choose life for their unborn children and abundant life for their families.
All of this sounds great theoretically. Few pro-life Christians would say that they don’t want their church to become more involved. But how is Making Life Disciples actually playing out in real life? Can a team of “regular” individuals really make a difference in their community? Well, read below to hear a testimony from one Making Life Disciples group that just completed their training:
“I just wanted you to know that we trained 25 people (see pic below)… We had a commissioning dinner and celebration on Friday. On Monday morning one of our Life Disciples (LD) came into contact with an abortion-minded girl who has an abortion appointment on Thursday. Now she has an ultrasound scheduled at our office on Wed. So grateful for our LD who has intervened and ministered to this young woman. Because of the intervention, this young woman is now more open (although still deciding) to continuing her pregnancy and seriously considering adoption. Prayers appreciated. Thanks for all you do…”
This testimony shows the importance of pregnancy centers and churches working together to prepare individuals in the church to be first responders. Real people in real churches are becoming the hands and feet of Jesus, offering tangible, Christ-centered support to the women and men faced with unplanned pregnancies. Success is when preparation meets opportunity! Has your church joined us?
