Since 1974, the March for Life has gathered tens of thousands of pro-lifers to Capitol Hill to both celebrate life and advocate for the rights of the unborn. Care Net enjoys this annual event and the opportunity to connect with others from across the country who are passionate about the cause of life and who make the annual pilgrimage to DC for the March.
This year’s March for Life theme is, “Equality Begins in the Womb.” You can watch a powerful video that chronicles a baby’s development in the womb and reminds us that life begins at conception and that pre-born babies feel, think, and move””just like their mothers.
The events begin on Thursday, January 20 with a free seminar on how to navigate the legislative system and let your representatives know that you stand for life. The March takes place on Friday, January 21st and begins with a rally at noon, featuring a live concert and inspirational speeches from pro-life leaders such as Kirk Cameron, Fr. Mike Schmitz, Cissie Graham Lynch, Congressman Chris Smith, Congresswoman Julia Letlow, George Schuberg, Archbishop Elpidhoros, Lisa Robertson, Katie Shaw, Kristen Waggoner, and Rachel Young.
Following the Rally, the March begins around 1pm””starting between 12th and 14th streets in Washington, DC. The peaceful March will proceed up Constitution Avenue to the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court building.
Care Net will be at the March handing out “Pro Abundant Life” signs on the mall near the Smithsonian Metro Station. If you’re in DC for the March, we hope you’ll come by and say hello. We’ll also be live-streaming bits and pieces of the event on Facebook. Make sure you’re following our Facebook page here to be a part of the action, virtually.
This year’s March is as important as ever as pro-life advocates from across the country come to take a stand for the unborn. Even if you can’t participate, would you consider setting aside some time next week to pray for the March? Pray that the hearts of our leaders would be softened and turned towards the protection of the unborn.
