“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” — 1 Corinthians 12:27

A young woman sits in her car outside a clinic, gripping her phone. Her mind is racing. She knows what she’s been taught. She may have grown up in church. She may even believe that abortion is wrong.

But in this moment, her circumstances feel louder than her convictions.

Fear. Pressure. Financial stress. A strained relationship. The weight of doing this alone.

And beneath it all, one overwhelming question: What choice do I have?

When Knowledge Isn’t Enough

For years, much of the abortion conversation has centered on information—facts, arguments, and persuasion. Those things matter. But they are often not enough.

Because decisions like these are rarely made in a vacuum of logic. They are made in moments of crisis.

Care Net’s research reveals something the Church cannot afford to ignore: many abortion-vulnerable women are not far from faith. They are sitting in our pews.

More than half of women who have abortions identify as Christians. Four out of ten were attending church at least once a month at the time of their first abortion.

These women likely knew biblical truth. But knowledge alone isn’t enough under the weight of real-life pressure.

The issue is not simply what people believe. It’s whether they feel supported enough to live out what they believe.

The Church as God Designed It

Scripture never presents the Christian life as something we navigate alone. In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul reminds us that we are the body of Christ—deeply connected, interdependent, and responsible for one another.

When someone feels like they must face a life-altering decision in isolation, something is missing in how the body is functioning.

Because life decisions need life support.

And God designed that support to come through His people.

Jesus made it clear in John 13:35 that His followers would be known by their love. Not by winning arguments, but by demonstrating a kind of love that is present, sacrificial, and personal.

This kind of love changes what feels possible in a moment of crisis.

From Crisis to Discipleship

Offering compassion, help, and hope to someone facing an unexpected pregnancy is more than meeting an immediate need. It is the beginning of something deeper.

It is an opportunity for discipleship.

Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19–20 is not simply to influence decisions, but to make disciples—people who follow Him in every area of life.

That means the goal is not only that a woman chooses life.

The goal is that she encounters Christ.

That a father steps into responsibility and begins to grow in faith.

That a family is not just preserved, but transformed.

From a Pro Abundant Life perspective, the abortion issue is not just something to prevent. It is an opportunity to walk with people from fear to faith, from isolation to community, and from uncertainty to purpose in Christ.

A Bigger Vision of Life

Abortion is not only about a single decision. It reflects deeper questions about identity, relationships, and God’s design.

When we talk about the sanctity of life, we are also talking about the sanctity of family—about mothers being supported, fathers being engaged, and children being welcomed into stable, loving environments.

That is why Care Net’s work goes beyond the moment of decision.

It is about building pathways:

  • From crisis to connection.
  • From decision to discipleship.
  • From isolation to belonging in the local church.

Because saving a life without inviting someone into the life of Christ leaves the greater mission unfinished.

The Call to the Church

This is where the message becomes personal.

The question is not simply, What do I believe about abortion?

The question is, Who am I walking with toward Christ?

Who in your life knows they can come to you in a moment of crisis?

Who would call you before making a life-altering decision?

Who are you discipling—not just through words, but through relationship?

The Church does not need louder arguments. It needs faithful presence.

Men and women who are available, grounded in truth, and committed to walking with others over time.

Because when the body of Christ is fully engaged, people no longer feel like they have to choose between their circumstances and their faith.

They begin to see another way.

A Prayer

God, we lift up every woman and family facing a pregnancy decision today. Draw them to Yourself and surround them with people who reflect Your compassion, help, and hope. Strengthen Your Church to live as Your body—present, loving, and faithful. And use us not just to influence decisions, but to make disciples who follow You for a lifetime. Amen.
