… you gave Isabella the chance to hear the truth
Thanks to you, the coaches of our national hotline – entirely funded by the generosity of friends like you – have the chance to give scared moms and dads facing unplanned pregnancies a chance to choose life for their unborn children. For Isabella*, that chance came when she least expected it.
When Isabella found out she was pregnant, she immediately felt like getting an abortion was the best choice she could make. The only choice, really. She was on bad terms with the baby’s father and didn’t see how she could be a single mom. She’d also experienced a miscarriage already and couldn’t bear to think of suffering another loss like that. In her mind, if she didn’t want to be pregnant, then it wouldn’t feel like a loss to get an abortion. It would just be like getting life back to normal. Looking for information about abortion online, she found Care Net’s national hotline and called the number.
You gave her baby a lifeline
When Denise – an experienced Pregnancy Decision Line coach – answered the call, she could tell right away that while Isabella thought she wanted an abortion. She didn’t feel good about the decision she was about to make. Her heart was open – even if just a little – to the loving, Gospel-centered message Denise shared with her.
At first, Isabella was resistant to the idea that God had a plan for her and her baby. After years of loss (her mother had recently passed away), she had developed – in her words – a “different perspective of Christianity.” But Denise listened to her, creating a safe space for the kind of authentic conversation that God uses to change a person’s heart. They talked about her ultrasound, and Isabella shared that she’d heard the baby’s heartbeat. She revealed that this led to her having conflicted emotions about the decision she was trying to make.
As Isabella’s resolve to get an abortion weakened, Denise could feel the Holy Spirit working through their conversation. One of the things that sets Care Net’s hotline apart from others is the way our coaches put clients on a path that will not only lead them to choose life for their babies, but also an abundant and transformed life through Jesus Christ. And by the time they were preparing to say their goodbyes, Isabella said she was “almost sure” she wanted to keep her baby!
Shepherding Towards a Bright Future
More often than not, a mother’s call to our hotline is just the first step on their journey of choosing life. Moms and dads struggling with pregnancy decisions are under intense pressure and are bombarded with false information about their options. That’s why coaches make a practice of checking in multiple times with callers after their initial talk and referring them to a local pregnancy center or church in our network if they can.
And when Denise connected with Isabella the next day, the young mom excitedly shared that she was 100% going to have her baby. She thanked Denise for her time and said she’d thought about their conversation, which had made her feel so much better about her future.
