For 50 years, Care Net has been committed to saving the lives of unborn children. But our mission goes deeper. We know that a baby’s life is safest and most secure when surrounded by God’s design for family: a loving mother and father, united in marriage, committed to each other and their child. This commitment is not just about reducing abortion—it’s about helping families flourish for generations.
#1 Marriage: God’s Blueprint for Protecting Life
Marriage is the place where abortions are least likely to happen. Decades of research show that children thrive when raised by their own married parents. They are less likely to live in poverty, drop out of school, or engage in risky behaviors. Yet, 86% of abortions occur among unmarried women. By promoting marriage alongside life-saving services, we address not just the crisis of the moment but the cycles that lead to abortion.
As one Care Net leader explains, “In 50 years, I hope that we see such a movement, that marriage is restored to its former order in our culture, that there’ll be something new that we have to focus on in 15 years because we’ve made an impact in our culture to the point that we’re changed.” —Patrick Eades, Executive Director, Skylark

#2 Building Strong Families
Saving a baby from abortion is only the beginning. Without intentional support for parents, too many children will face the same struggles that put them at risk in the first place. We must help men and women connect the dots between marriage, parenthood, and God’s plan for the family. This approach breaks the intergenerational cycle of unplanned pregnancies and abortion.
“We’re serving that generation in their 20s or early 20s. To their 30s. And that is just such a pivotal, crucial time in people’s lives even to embrace or reject a relationship with Christ. What are their thoughts? What motivates them? What drives their heart? How can we speak their language? How can we bring the services, bring the support that they need in a way that they can receive it?”
—Debbie Provencher, Executive Director, Lighthouse Pregnancy Resource Center
Our vision is holistic: we celebrate the courage of single mothers, provide the practical help they need, and work to create pathways toward strong, healthy families. This is why marriage and fatherhood remain at the center of our Pro Abundant Life mission. Research shows that babies are safest and abortion is least likely when parents are married and united in purpose. Care Net promotes marriage and involved fatherhood—not out of moral pressure, but because it’s God’s design for human flourishing.
#3 The Power of Partnership
No pregnancy center can meet every need alone. That’s why Care Net equips churches to become a “circle of care” around moms, dads, and babies. When centers and churches work together, lives are saved, families are strengthened, and disciples are made.
At Care Net, we believe God’s call is clear: protect life, strengthen marriage, and make disciples. For half a century, we’ve embraced this mission. And we believe the next 50 years will be even more abundant.
