After an extensive nationwide search yielding many qualified candidates, the Care Net Board of Directors has announced that Melinda Delahoyde, a lifelong servant of the organization, has been appointed to be the next president of Care Net.

A few weeks ago, we requested your prayers for our Maryland pregnancy center leaders as they faced the Maryland Senate Finance Committee in their opposition of Maryland Senate Bill 690 and House Bill 1146. By God's grace, the anti-pregnancy center bill was defeated!

Care Net President Melinda Delahoyde applauded the defeat of legislation in Maryland that sought to disparage the work of pregnancy centers and deter women from going to pregnancy centers for help. "We are glad to see that legislators in Maryland truly understand the good work of pregnancy centers and the tremendous service they provide to communities throughout the state," said Delahoyde. "What was perhaps intended to hurt our work actually turned out to be a great educational opportunity for legislators."

Care Net President Melinda Delahoyde spoke out Thursday about the recent tragedies involving two Houston-area 14-year-old pregnant teens.

Last Wednesday, leaders from Care Net visited the Maryland General Assembly to defend Maryland pregnancy centers against MD Senate Bill 690. This outrageous bill would require pregnancy centers to incorrectly tell all potential clients, "We are not required to give medically accurate information."

Care Net's 2008 Annual Pregnancy Center Conference will take place October 1-4, 2008, in exciting Atlanta, Georgia! It's not too early to start planning for this year's conference. Hotel reservations have now begun, and conference registration will begin May 2008.

Care Net, an organization that supports a national network of 1,150 pregnancy centers, announced Friday that a record number of National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday educational brochures (1.5 million) will be distributed in churches and across America on Jan. 20.

'From the cover of TIME to the cover of WORLD, pregnancy centers are receiving the recognition they have long deserved,' said Care Net President Melinda Delahoyde.

The pro-life movie Bella has overwhelmingly succeeded at theaters, grossing $1.3 million opening weekend despite its limited release. To have a long-term impact in theaters, the movie must continue to garner support.
